Adani Hazira Port Limited organises week-long celebrations on World Environment Day

SURAT, GUJARAT : In line with the Adani Group’s deep commitment to the environment, Adani Hazira Port Limited celebrated the World Environment Day for a week under the leadership of  Neeraj Bansal, CEO of the Port. Advancing the Adani Group’s motto “Growth with Goodness”, Adani Port CEO Hazira Bansal has taken several initiatives to make the port a green port. Switching of Diesel Internal Transport Vehicle (ITV) to Electric ITV. Switching of diesel operated cranes and equipment to operate electrically. Mangrove afforestation. Use of recycled water from Kribhako for industrial purposes and contribution to Adani Group’s 100 million plantation target.

Adani Hazira Port Limited Organized World Environment Day weeklong celebration

The week-long celebration was organized in collaboration with Gujarat Pollution Control Board as per the theme of World Environment Day-24 decided by UNEP and the guidelines of Mission Life Program launched by our Hon’ble Prime Minister. The objective of the program was to create environmental awareness and capacity building among employees, associates and workers as well as the local community.

The program includes environmental awareness sessions for workers, quizzes for employees and associates, on-the-spot quiz for workers, picture and poster competition for employees, associates and their family members, slogan competition. A tree plantation and cleanliness drive was undertaken within the port. Environment awareness session, drawing competition on the theme of environment and first aid training were organized for school children of Suvali Primary School. Tree plantation was also done with the school children of Suwali. Adani Foundation distributed fruit tree graft to tribal farmers of Umarpada.

During the closing ceremony on 10th June 2024, Regional Officer of Gujarat Pollution Control Board Dr. Jignasa Ojha was the chief guest. During the closing program, Dr. Oza in his speech mentioned that sustainable lifestyle is the most important factor to protect the environment and protect the earth from the impact of climate change. He appealed to conserve water, energy and natural resources and use them sparingly to reduce climate change.

Competition winners were awarded and encouraged. Medicinal plant “Tulsi” was distributed to all the participants at the conclusion of the program.
