Surat (Gujarat) [India]: For the first time, thousands of private doctors from across Gujarat will participate in the one-day strike to mark their protest against the policies and orders of the Gujarat Government including the fire NOC and stringent ICU rules on July 22.

Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) Surat Branch announced that the private doctors will observe a one-day strike starting from 8 am on July 22 to 8 am on July 23. All the OPDs and emergency services in the private hospitals will remain shut to protest the government’s policies and orders on the fire safety NOC and the ICU norms.

Dr. Ashok Patel, president of IMA-Surat, said, “The private doctors and private hospitals are highly disappointed with the policies and orders of the State Government issued from time to time. To express their displeasure on the government rules, private doctors from across the state will be participating in the one-day strike on July 22”

Dr. Patel added, “For emergency cases, the medical treatment will be available in the government and trust-run hospitals”
