Shivashree Ritu Singh Shares Her Take on Premanand Maharaj-Virat Kohli Controversy

Astrologer and spiritual speaker Shivashree Ritu Singh, popularly known as Astrologer Ritu Singh, has reacted to the ongoing discussion surrounding spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. Sharing her perspective, Ritu defended the Vrindavan-based spiritual figure and said that his popularity should not be viewed primarily through his association with celebrities and influencers.

Ritu, who has spoken about her close connection with Vrindavan, said she believes Premanand Maharaj has established his following through his spiritual teachings, simplicity and the faith of devotees. Addressing the discussion around celebrity visits, she said, “Mein Vrindavan se bahut zyada judi hui hoon aur jaanti hoon ki Premanand Maharaj Ji personally kabhi kisi ko paise dekar nahi bulate. Unhe Virat Kohli ya kisi aur influencer ki zarurat nahi hai.” She further said that, in her view, Premanand Maharaj’s popularity is associated with Radha Rani’s blessings and the affection of people.

The astrologer also questioned whether a celebrity’s association with a spiritual figure should determine an individual’s decision to seek spiritual guidance. Referring to Virat Kohli, she asked whether people visit Premanand Maharaj simply after seeing the cricketer associated with him or whether their own understanding and spiritual inclination plays a role. “Kya aap Virat Kohli ko dekhkar hi Premanand Maharaj ke paas jaana pasand karenge? Ya aapki swayam ki buddhi bhi aapko ek saatvik marg par le jaane ke liye aakarshit karti hai?” Ritu said.

She also spoke about what she described as a wider pattern of criticism directed towards Hinduism and religious gurus. Ritu said, in her view, attempts to raise allegations against Premanand Maharaj should be examined in a broader context. “Pichhle kuch saalon se lagataar Hindu dharm aur dharm gurus par ek tarah ka propaganda aur political attacks hote rahe hain,” she said. She added that she believes criticism directed at a spiritual leader can also be perceived by followers as criticism of the wider Sanatan tradition.
