Ahmedabad | Gujarat — In a moment of immense pride for Ahmedabad and cricket lovers across Gujarat, the official trophy of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup—won by India after a historic wait of 17 years—will be displayed at Nirman High School, Vastrapur, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The special showcase will give students and cricket fans a rare opportunity to witness the iconic trophy up close and capture photographs with the symbol of India’s global cricketing triumph.
The event has been organised by the parent organisation of Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who is an alumnus of Nirman High School. Bumrah played a pivotal role in India’s memorable T20 World Cup victory, and the trophy display is being held to honour his journey from a schoolboy cricketer to one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket.
Adding emotional significance to the occasion, Jasprit Bumrah’s mother, Daljit Kaur, will be present during the programme. Several distinguished personalities from the cricketing and cultural fraternity will also attend, including Bumrah’s Under-19 Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning coach Rajiv Desai, Ranji Trophy coaches Saigal Sir and Hitesh Sir, Ajaybhai Patel, Senior Vice President of the Olympic Games of India, Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), and noted Gujarati literature figure Shirmor Kumarpalbhai Desai.
“The display of the World Cup trophy at Jasprit Bumrah’s alma mater is not just a celebration of victory, but a tribute to discipline, perseverance and dreams,” said one of the organisers. “It is meant to inspire young students to believe that global success can begin from a school playground.”
Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth viewing of the trophy. From 10 am to 12 noon, the trophy will be accessible to Nirman High School students, invited guests and members of the school family. From 12 pm to 1:30 pm, the display will be open to students from other schools and the general public, allowing cricket enthusiasts to be part of this historic moment.
