Woman Police Constable commits suicide at Bharuch staff quarters

Bharuch | Gujarat — A 27-year-old woman police constable committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan in the staff quarters at the Bharuch headquarters, creating a stir in the police department. 

Reason for suicide still unknown

The reason for the suicide of 27-year-old Preeti Udesinh Parmar, hailing from Bhavnagar, is still unknown. As soon as the incident was reported, senior police officials immediately reached the spot. The body was taken down with the help of B Division police. After that, the body was shifted to Bharuch Civil Hospital for postmortem.

Questioning of colleagues

The B Division police has registered a case of accidental death in this matter and is conducting further investigation. The police are questioning the family members and colleagues of the deceased to know the real reason behind the suicide.

Had breakfast with staff yesterday

It is learnt that the deceased was happy and ate panipuri with her colleagues while on duty on Wednesday. She also had a breakfast with her colleague in the morning at staff quarters. However, the extreme step taken by the deceased shrouds in mystery as police investigate the reason behind the suicide. 

Sources said that Preeti Parmar, originally from Borla village in Talaja taluka of Bhavnagar, was working in the LIB branch in Bharuch police station for the last five years. Yesterday, after performing her duty, she went to her room and committed suicide by hanging herself. A panel post mortem was conducted by the doctors at the Bharuch civil hospital.
