Surat | Gujarat — The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has signed an agreement with Sarvajanik Education Society (SES) for internship, industry training, placement facilities, and skill development for students.

The MoU was signed by SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi and the Chairman of the Sarvajanik Education Society Bharati Shah. SGCCI vice-president Ashok Jirawala, former SGCCI president Ketan Desai were present on this occasion.

SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said that the main purpose of the MoU is to provide an opportunity for students to do internships in the Chamber and other trade and industry related institutions, so that they can get practical knowledge of the industry sector. Through internships, students will be able to gain practical experience in the day-to-day workings of the industry, management methods, marketing, accounting, production processes and business related rules. This program will not only make the students more equipped for employment, but will also strengthen their professional profile. The MoU has been signed as part of an effort to bridge the gap between industry and academia and to make students professionally competent.

SES president Bharat Shah said that the placement profile and skill sets of the students will be shared with the SGCCI by the public universities so that it becomes easier for the right candidates to get the right opportunities. Joint workshops, certification programs, mock interviews and soft skills training programs will be organized to ensure employment for the students. The Chamber will conduct seminars in collaboration with HR heads, recruiters and domain experts, these experts will guide the students on career planning, entrepreneurship and special trends.

As per the MoU, the SGCCI will organize internship and industry training programs for the students of the public universities in collaboration with its industrial members and professional organizations so that the students can get professional experience. Under the placement facility, the SGCCI will provide employment facilities to the students by sharing information on vacancies in the industry, organizing recruitment drives, career fairs and industry-student dialogue seminars.

In addition, both the institutions will jointly organize programs like job fairs, innovation showcases, industry visits, career conclave etc. This MoU will help prepare the students for modern entrepreneurship, inculcate in them important qualities for career development and strengthen the industry-academic relationship.
