Surat, Gujarat – In a landmark educational initiative, 55 school principals from Surat city and district, along with the District Education Officer (DEO), embarked on an industrial exposure tour to Adani’s Hazira Port, Oil Refinery, and Cement Plant under the Adani Foundation’s flagship initiative, Project Udaan.

This marks the first time such a large group of school leaders from the region has been offered an insider’s view of one of India’s leading industrial hubs of Adani group in Hazira, Surat. Project Udaan, a national-level outreach effort by the Adani Foundation, aims to inspire students by giving them real-world exposure to industrial operations. The initiative is free for government and grant-in-aid schools, while private schools pay a nominal fee.

“This visit was eye-opening,” said Meena Joshi, principal of a Surat-based school. “We always speak to students about industries in theory, but seeing operations at such a scale makes a lasting impression. I now understand how powerful this experience can be for our students.”

DEO Bhagirathsinh Parmar praised the initiative, saying, “This is a unique platform for students to witness real-world industrial activity. It broadens their outlook, fuels curiosity, and inspires them to learn beyond textbooks.”

The visit included a guided tour of the Adani Port’s sprawling facilities, interactive sessions with site engineers, and discussions about future collaboration between schools and the Adani Foundation. Many principals acknowledged this as their first ever industrial visit.

“I was stunned by the scale and efficiency,” said Principal Harish Patel. “It’s no longer just about books – students need to see the world of work to dream bigger.”

The Adani Foundation’s goal with Project Udaan is to bridge the gap between education and industry, allowing students from Class 9 to 12 and colleges to visit various Adani facilities across India. To date, lakhs of students have benefited from this enriching experience.
