New Delhi –– In a bold step that intertwines commerce with patriotism, two of India’s leading fashion e-commerce platforms—Reliance-backed AJIO and Flipkart-owned Myntra—have removed Turkish brands from their platforms, citing Turkey’s openly hostile stance toward India. The move has drawn widespread praise, particularly from the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

“This is not just a business decision; it’s a powerful national statement,” said Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk and CAIT’s National General Secretary. “At a time when Turkey is aligning itself with anti-India narratives and partnering with Pakistan on diplomatic fronts, hitting back economically is both necessary and commendable. What AJIO and Myntra have done is a clear manifestation of the ‘Nation First’ ideology.”

The decision comes amid increasing concerns about Turkey’s global posturing, especially its vocal support for Pakistan on matters related to Kashmir and terrorism—issues deeply sensitive to India’s sovereignty.

CAIT National President B C Bhartia echoed similar sentiments and called upon other players in the Indian retail ecosystem to adopt the same approach. “Business cannot operate in a vacuum. Profit should never come at the cost of national dignity. If a country is actively trying to hurt India’s global standing, every Indian company has a moral responsibility to respond,” he stated.

Bhartia further urged all e-commerce platforms, retail chains, and FMCG companies to scan their supply chains and remove products sourced from Turkey, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan, countries which have repeatedly shown anti-India leanings.

Taking the momentum further, CAIT demanded that the Government of India implement a formal trade embargo strategy against such nations, aligning foreign policy with economic retaliation. “It’s time we use our economic clout as a geopolitical tool,” said Bhartia.

On the state level, CAIT Gujarat President Pramod Bhagat lauded the decision as “a defining moment in Indian retail history.” He urged brands and consumers alike to “stand united in boycotting products from hostile nations,” calling AJIO and Myntra’s move a “template of action” for all patriotic businesses.
