Gandhinagar : The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has announced its Action Plan 2025 ahead of the Class 10 and 12 board exams, which will commence on February 27. The plan outlines key rules and guidelines to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations across the state.

The SSC exams will be held at 989 centres in 87 zones, while the HSC Science stream exams will take place at 152 centres across 54 zones. The HSC General (Commerce and Arts) stream exams will be conducted at 520 centres in 59 zones.

To curb malpractice, the board has implemented strict regulations for examinees and staff. Candidates are advised to avoid wearing shoes and socks at the examination venue. If they do, they must remove them before entering the examination hall. A list of individuals suspected of facilitating unfair practices will be prepared, and they will be placed under direct police supervision if required.

Police personnel will be stationed at centres with a history of mass copying or irregularities, and the State Reserve Police (SRP) will be on standby when needed. However, as per the guidelines, police officers will only maintain law and order outside the examination venue and cannot enter the exam hall without authorization from the venue manager or board officials.

Entry to the examination centres will be strictly monitored, with admit cards being checked at the main gate. No printed materials, books, or other items will be permitted inside, except for the admit card. Additionally, mobile phones will be strictly prohibited for examinees and duty staff, except for exempted personnel like venue managers, who can only use them inside the venue manager’s office.

If any student is found in possession of unauthorized materials linked to malpractice, a case of misconduct will be filed against them.

Guidelines for Students

The board has issued specific guidelines for students regarding permissible items. Class 10 students are strictly prohibited from using calculators, while Class 12 students may use simple calculators but are not allowed to bring scientific calculators into the examination hall.

On the first day of the examination, students must arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the exam begins. Electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and smartwatches, are banned inside the examination hall.
