Pandesara GIDC Employees Benefit from Subsidized Restaurant Facility in Surat

Surat : The Pandesara Industries Association has inaugurated a subsidized restaurant in the Pandesara GIDC Estate to ensure better health and productivity among its employees. Union Minister and Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil inaugurated the facility today, commending the efforts of industrialists and the association in implementing this initiative.

The restaurant aims to serve nutritious, clean, and affordable meals to approximately 1,500 workers daily, with plans to increase capacity based on demand. According to Kamal Vijay Tulsyan, President of the Pandesara Industries Association, the restaurant is a response to the health issues faced by workers consuming unhygienic food from roadside vendors.

“The subsidized meals include a wholesome menu of vegetables, roti, rice, dal, or curry for just ₹40. For units requiring lunch and dinner for their staff, a packed container meal can be ordered for ₹50,” Tulsyan explained. He added that this initiative would save time spent searching for food and enhance productivity for artisans working in GIDC.

Supporting Worker Health and Productivity

Industrialists and the Pandesara Industries Association have committed to bearing the financial burden of ₹4 lakh per month to sustain the restaurant, which operates on a non-profit model. Workers, especially those from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, will enjoy meals tailored to their preferences.

The restaurant will serve lunch from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM and dinner from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with parcel options available for those on night shifts or heading home. This accessibility ensures that employees from various units in the GIDC can benefit from the initiative.

Union Minister C.R. Patil lauded the project, calling it a significant step toward employee welfare. He highlighted how such efforts contribute to better health outcomes and increased efficiency in the workplace.

Community-Wide Impact

The inauguration was attended by key industrial leaders, including Jitendra Vakharia, President of the South Gujarat Textile Processors Association, and Pandesara Association leaders Maheshbhai Kabutarwala, J.P. Agrawal, Ashok Mehta, and former standing chairman Paresh Patel.

This initiative by the Pandesara Industries Association sets an example for addressing worker health and productivity issues while fostering community welfare in Surat’s thriving industrial hub.
