Gujarat CM flags off ‘Run for Unity’ at Sabarmati Riverfront 

This 'Run for Unity,' organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the District Administration, symbolizes unity and binds everyone together in solidarity. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also extended Diwali greetings to all state citizens.

Ahmedabad : Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated, “In two days, we will celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of a unified India and the Iron Man. Today, this ‘Run for Unity’ at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad pays homage to this great patriot.” 

The Chief Minister, along with all participants, took a collective oath to remain dedicated to the nation’s unity, integrity, and security. Bhupendra Patel remarked that, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the entire nation will commemorate Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary throughout the year. 

He further mentioned that October 31st is celebrated as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) across India to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to national political integration. This annual celebration, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014, commemorates Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel laid the foundation for a united and integrated India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought Sardar Patel’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ to fruition.

It is noteworthy that every year on October 31st, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day, promoting unity and harmony by bringing people from all walks of life together to celebrate the nation’s rich cultural diversity and unity. In Gujarat, the ‘Run for Unity’ is organized statewide, inspiring thousands of citizens from various age groups towards unity and harmony in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s message. 

Across Gujarat, all municipal corporations and district administrations hold ‘Run for Unity’ events at various locations. In Ahmedabad, the run began at the Event Center on the Sabarmati Riverfront, organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad District Administration. This run covered a total distance of 3.0 kilometres, with over 2,500 participants.
