Ahmedabad : The Special Judge for CBI cases in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has handed down a five-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to Fauza Singh Pandher, the former Superintendent of the Central Excise & Customs (Preventive Branch) in Daman Commissionerate, Vapi, District Valsad (Gujarat). In addition to the prison term, the court has imposed a substantial fine of Rs. 20,00,000.

The legal proceedings stem from a case registered on June 30, 2005, following a complaint against the accused, Fauza Singh Pandher. During the investigation, it was alleged that he possessed Disproportionate Assets amounting to Rs. 13.59 lakh, representing a staggering 261% increase during the period from January 1, 2000, to May 3, 2005.

After thorough investigative efforts, a chargesheet was filed in the matter on August 31, 2006. Subsequently, the Trial Court found the accused guilty of the charges, leading to his conviction.

This is not the first time that Fauza Singh Pandher has faced legal consequences. In another case registered on May 3, 2005, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended him while accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000. During the subsequent searches and investigations, various documents were uncovered, revealing investments made by Pandher in his name and on behalf of his family members, along with other assets.

For his involvement in this case, the Competent Court in Ahmedabad had previously convicted Pandher and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment, accompanied by a fine of Rs. 5,000. This judgment was delivered on December 30, 2019.
