Surat : A 13-year-old boy managed to scale the imposing walls of the Children’s Home located within the premises of the Vishwa Jagruti Mission in Vesu, Surat. This audacious act marked the second time in the last three months that the boy, who has a history of mental health issues, successfully slipped away from the secure confines of the facility.

The youngster, identified under the alias Kishan, was a student in the sixth grade at a government school along the Surat-Dumas road. His escape has raised significant concerns among the staff and administrators of the Children’s Home, who are grappling with the unique challenges posed by his unstable mental health.

Sanjay Suryavanshi, a resident teacher at the Vishwa Jagruti Mission Balaashram, situated behind the Someshwara Enclave in Vesu, uncovered Kishan’s absence during his nightly headcount on Tuesday. The situation triggered immediate action, with Suryavanshi promptly alerting the ashram superintendent, Rajesh Thakar, to the boy’s unauthorized departure.

Upon receipt of this concerning news, the ashram superintendent initiated a thorough review of the facility’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage. The footage unveiled a remarkable and daring escape; Kishan had scaled the towering back wall of the ashram compound at approximately 7:25 PM.

The audacious escape prompted a widespread search operation, with authorities scouring locations such as Surat Railway Station and the Bus Station in a determined effort to locate the missing boy. Unfortunately, these diligent efforts yielded no immediate results, prompting the authorities to escalate the matter by filing a formal complaint with the Vesu police station.

Kishan’s journey to the Children’s Home had been marked by a tumultuous series of events. Originally adopted by a couple residing in Abrama, Valsad, he was placed in the care of the VR Popawala Children’s Home in Katargam due to his disruptive behavior and a tragic loss—the untimely passing of his foster father.

The Surat police have formally registered a missing person’s complaint and are actively pursuing leads to ensure the safe return of the boy to the Children’s Home. Given Kishan’s mental health condition, authorities are especially concerned for his well-being and are making every effort to provide him with the necessary care and support.
