Mumbai: Taiwan Expo 2023, a highly anticipated annual trade expo, will be held in India for the first time from October 5 – 7, 2023, at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregoan, Mumbai. The Expo is returning to India for the sixth time, and this time it will be a physical event, giving attendees and vendors a chance to get up close and personal with the products on display. Key areas such as “Smart Manufacturing,” “Smart City,” “Smart Agriculture,” “Smart Lifestyle,” and “Electric Vehicles” will be shown in seven separate pavilions at this year’s Expo, which will include six different themes. Ahamani EV Technology Co., Ltd.’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Compal Electronics, Inc.’s first 5G Mixed Reality Glasses, Chung Hsin Electric & Machinery Manufacturing Corporation’s hydrogen 2-3-wheel motorcycle, and Teco Electric and Machinery Co., Ltd.’s electric vehicle (EV) power system are just a few of the show-stopping products on display.

In order to officially launch the Expo, a curtain raiser event was held, and important figures such as Mr. Homer Chang, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC), and Mr. Keven Cheng, Deputy Executive Director of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), were in attendance. The event’s special guests included such prominent Indian figures as Dr. Ravindra Kute, President of the Maharashtra chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), and Mr. Vikram Mathur, Executive Director of Business Network International (BNI).

At the conference, TAITRA’s Deputy Executive Director K. J. Cheng remarked, “We are thrilled to organise yet another edition of Taiwan Expo in India. Products and services at the Expo have been selected to reflect the most up-to-date government regulations, needs of the regional market, and patterns of consumer spending. One-on-one Business Match Meetings and other stage events are also planned to facilitate communication and cooperation between companies based in Taiwan and India. We want to keep developing the greatest platform possible to advance commercial ties between the two nations.

To further strengthen links between Taiwan and ASEAN nations like India, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) hosts an annual show called Taiwan Expo. Taiwan Expo has grown rapidly since its beginning in 2017 to become a premier venue for Taiwanese companies to network, discover new markets, and develop strategic alliances in ASEAN, South Asia, and North America. Therefore, the Expo is regarded as the most important platform for international business transactions between ASEAN and India. As so, it exemplifies Taiwan’s unwavering dedication to developing India’s bilateral commercial ties.

Among official statistics compiled by the government of Taiwan, India ranks as the country’s number sixteen trade partner and thirteenth biggest export destination. This is an increase of 9.86% from 2021, and the total value of bilateral commerce between India and Taiwan in 2022 was $8.46 billion.

In recent years, India has established itself as a competitive alternative hub within the global supply chain framework, and the current geopolitical and economic scenario offers synergy to both India and Taiwan, opening the door to opportunities to navigate cooperation and build prosperous commercial ties between the two countries.
