Surat (Gujarat) [India], November 15 : The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will not allow commuters who have not even taken a single dose of Covid-19 vaccination to travel by the city buses, henceforth. Commuters who wish to travel by the City Buses and BRTS will need to keep the vaccination certificate in their mobile phones or hard copies.
The action has come to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the city buses. The passengers will also have to compulsorily wear face masks and maintain a safe distance from their fellow commuters.
Official sources said that Municipal Commisisoner Banchhanidhi Pani has instructed the BRTS department for strict vigilance at the bus stops and buses to ensure that vaccinated people board the city buses.
Kamlesh Naik, deputy commissioner (BRTS Cell) told TBT, “Our teams from the BRTS department have started the checking of the passengers boarding the city buses and BRT buses. Only those possessing the vaccination certificates will be allowed to board the buses. This exercise has started from Monday to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus”
