Thieves stole umbrellas put up at the beautification zone beneath the fly-over at Parle Point

Surat (Gujarat) [India], November 10: The mischief-mongers are giving sleepless nights to the authorities of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). After the iconic cable-stayed bridge and the heritage hope bridge, the activity and beautification zone created beneath the fly-over bridge in the posh Parle Point is on the target of the thieves.

The thieves targeted the beautification zone of the SMC at Parle Point fly-over bridge on late Tuesday night and stole a few of the colorful umbrellas hung on the bridge’s structure for beautification. Interestingly, the beautification and activity zone created by SMC is located close to the residence of Gujarat’s Home Minister, Harsh Sanghavi.

Sources said the mischief mongers may have struck during the late-night hours and escaped with the colourful umbrellas hung about 20 feet high below the bridge’s deck for beautification. Due to the Diwali vacation, the beautification zone attracts people in hordes, where they click pictures and selfies in the activity zone and garden area.

Following the incident, Mayor Hemali Boghawala rushed to the spot and inspected the zone area below the fly-over bridge at Parle Point on Wednesday. Boghawala is believed to have instructed the officials present on the spot for setting up security arrangements to protect the beautification and activity zone from the mischief-mongers and thieves.
