Surat : Aspiring dancers will have a chance to learn online, various kinds of classical and folk dance forms from the masters and gurus of India.
The city-based Tal Group Surat has organized a week long free online workshop of classical and folk dances in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Gujarat and the International Council of Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) starting from July 26.
The workshop titled ‘Indian Dance Quest’ has been organised to celebrate Guru Purnima. The one week workshop will start from July 26. At the one-hour workshop, the students participating online will be given away with certificates.
Krutika Shah, founder and director, Taal Group told TBT, “Guru means a mentor, guide, expert of a certain knowledge, and a person who enlightens one[s soul in the truest sense and guides us on the journey of solitude”
Shah added, “On this Guru Purnima, we thank all our respected Gurus who have taught us the beauty of dance and music. We will present our very own Guru Dakshina with a live show on Facebook pages of @iccrgujarat and @taalgroup on July 24”
According to Shah, at the workshop, the students participating online for one-week free programme will learn various dance forms including garba folk dance of Gujarat, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Orrisi and Mohiniyattam.”
