Gujarat Increases Aid for New Nagar Seva Sadan Construction

The Chief Minister has adopted a citizen-centric approach in this decision, ensuring that citizens who visit the Nagar Seva Sadan for their work receive better convenience and facilities.

Gandhinagar, Gujarat : Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel has announced a substantial increase in the state government’s financial assistance to municipalities for the construction of their own new Nagar Seva Sadan.

The Chief Minister has adopted a citizen-centric approach in this decision, ensuring that citizens who visit the Nagar Seva Sadan for their work receive better convenience and facilities.

Along with increasing the amount of assistance provided under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel has also decided that facilities like elevators for Divyang and senior citizens, as well as solar systems for energy self-reliance and electricity bill savings, shall be incorporated in the construction of Nagar Seva Sadan.

In addition, to accelerate the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister has directed that rainwater harvesting systems be established in the construction of new Nagar Seva Sadan.

As per the decision taken by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the assistance provided to ‘A’ and ‘B’ category municipalities for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadan has been increased threefold from the current amount of ₹2 crore. 

Accordingly, ‘A’ category municipalities will now receive ₹6 crore, and ‘B’ category municipalities will receive ₹5 crore from the state government for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadan.

The assistance of ₹1 crore currently given to ‘C’ and ‘D’ category municipalities for constructing new Nagar Seva Sadan has also been increased. ‘C’ category municipalities will now receive ₹4 crore, and ‘D’ category municipalities will receive ₹3 crore.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister has decided that if a municipality wishes to undertake repairs or expansion of an existing Nagar Seva Sadan, 25% of the amount allocated for constructing a new Nagar Seva Sadan will be granted for this purpose.

As per the current classification in the state, there are 34 ‘A’ category municipalities, 37 in category ‘B’, 61 in category ‘C’, and 17 in category ‘D’.
