Consul General of Poland requested Surat’s businessmen to import apples from Poland.

SGCCI recommended promotion of  Surat’s textiles, jewellery and diamonds in Poland.

Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) on Monday recommended the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Damian Irzyk to promote Surat’s textile and diamonds business in Poland.

The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Damian Irzyk was in the city to meet various trade bodies and the SGCCI to discuss the bilateral trade between Poland and Surat on Monday.

President of SGCCI, Ashish Gujarati said, “Surat is the hub of textiles, medical textiles, technical textiles, diamonds and jewellery. There is a huge opportunity for the businesses in Poland for the imports of such products from Surat.”

Gujarati added, “The SGCCI will help Poland in promoting the tourism, education and apple business. In addition, the SGCCI is organizing the Tourism Expo and that Poland government can participate with a separate country pavilion”

Consul General of Poland, Damian Irzik said, “There is huge opportunity for the businessmen from Surat and Gujarat to invest in the manufacturing activities in Poland. Poland has the lowest production costs among other European countries. However, industrialists from Surat will be able to do business with France and Germany, required they produce and manufacture in Poland”

According to Irzik, the bilateral trade between India and Poland is very low. While Poland is exporting about $500 billion worth of goods per annum, its export to India is less than $700 million per annum.

“Poland is the second largest producer of apples in the world.But, India imports apples from Australia and New Zealand. I am requesting the businessman in Surat and South Gujarat to import apples from Poland” said Irzik.
