Surat : There is a common saying ‘try and try until you succeed’. Son of a laboratory owner, Kartik Jivani, proved it when he cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in the third attempt. Kartik brought laurels to Surat by securing eighth position in the all-India UPSC merit list and first position in Gujarat.
Kartik had appeared in the UPSC exam in January for the third consecutive year. Earlier, he first appeared in the UPSC exam in 2017, but he had failed. However, he again reappeared in the UPSC exam in 2019 and secured 84th position in the UPSC merit list.
According to Kartik, he took admission in the IPS training at Hyderabad after he secured 84th rank in the UPSC merit in 2019. However, he was keen to re-appear in the UPSC exam to achieve his dream of becoming an IAS.
“I started preparing for the UPSC exam, while I was undergoing IPS training at Hyderabad. I have a dream of becoming an IAS. My conscience was not ready to accept that I can’t achieve my desired goal of becoming a IAS. However, I prepared myself for a challenge and re-appeared in the UPSC exam in January this year. I am happy that I have successfully cleared the exam with eighth position in the all-India UPSC merit list” said Kartik
After securing eighth rank, Kartik has become the first IAS from Surat. Kartik pursued his higher secondary education from the city’s PP Savani and Ryan International school. He is a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Mumbai.
