Surat: Savjibhai Dholakia, a generous diamond baron known for gifting cars and flats to his high-performing employees during Diwali, has once again grabbed the attention of many. This time around, Dholakia has announced financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh to the players of the women’s hockey team participating in the Tokyo Olympics.
This is the first time that the Surat-based Hari Krishna Exports Private Limited will be honoring the athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics.
Savjibhai Dholakia, chairman of Hari Krishna Exports on Tuesday posted a message on his Facebook wall announcing his company’s wish to honor the women hockey team players with the cash assistance to purchase their own houses.
In his announcement, Dholakia said, “With incredible pride in my heart, I take this opportunity to announce that HK Group has decided to honor our women’s hockey team. For each player who wishes to build their dream homes, we will assist with Rs 11 lakh cash donation”
Dholakia further added, “The group has also decided to award other athletes, who have houses but want to purchase a new car. For each athlete, the group will be paying Rs 5 lakh award money to purchase the brand new car, if their team brings home a medal. Our girls are scripting history with every move at Tokyo Olympics-2021 and we are into the semi-finals for the first time beating Australia. It is our humble effort to boost the morale of our players”
Dholakia got the inspiration for giving financial assistance to the players of the women’s hockey team after he knew about the economical condition of India’s first weightlifting champion from Imphal, Mirabai Chanu at the Tokyo Olympics.
However, the HK group has not clarified whether they will be giving away financial assistance to Mirabai Chanu who won the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
