GJEPC’s 4th edition of Artisan Awards-2021 culminates in Mumbai.

Surat: The 4th edition of ‘The Artisan Awards 2021’ organized by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) concluded in Mumbai, with designers from India and overseas participated in the competition to showcase their excellence and innovation in jewelry designing on Tuesday.

The Artisan Awards 2021, which was based on the theme ‘Reinventing Vintage’, received an overwhelming response from all over the world, particularly Japan, the US, Taiwan, Russia, Egypt, Abu Dhabi, and Australia. About three winners and eight runners-up were announced from the Indian and foreign designers.

The theme of the competition ‘Reinventing Vintage’ showcased a spread of three jewelry eras from diverse cultures—Indian heritage was celebrated through the sub-theme temple jewelry, Japanese was a nod to Asian inspiration, and Victorian referenced the colonial past to create timeless yet modern silhouettes.

Chairman of GJEPC, Colin Shah said, “India is at the helm of the jewelry business, which boasts of an exceptional designing and manufacturing talent pool, which has created jewelry pieces adored and cherished across the world. The Artisan Awards celebrated the revival of the eternal design eras and may chronicle the new design epoch thrust upon us by the pandemic”

The Artisan Awards are instituted to honor jewelry artists, the hidden champions, who dare to think differently and break the mold. The thematic competitions put forth by the GJEPC each year aims to make the Artisan a globally recognized award in the field of jewelry design.

Despite the lockdowns, the world over, a total of 586 entries were received from national and international participants from Japan, the USA, Taiwan, Russia, Egypt, Abu Dhabi, and Australia.

Vipul Shah, vice-chairman, GJEPC said, “The Artisan Awards has come to be recognized as the most prestigious jewelry design competition, attracting participants from Indian as well as abroad”
