Surat : The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) had organised an interactive session with first IPS officer and son of the soil from Surat, Haresh Dudhat on Friday. Dudhat, an IPS officer serving as the deputy director at Gujarat Police Academy (GPA), called upon the youths of Surat to take up the challenge and join civil services.
Talking at the interactive session, Haresh Dudhat said that he spent his childhood in Surat and studied in a school located in Varachha. He completed his studies till Bachelor of Science (B.SC) and that he had a dream to become an IPS officer.
Dudhat met the then district collector of Surat, Sangeeta Singh. It was after Singh’s inspiration, Dudhat decided to prepare for the civil services.
“When I graduated, there were no classes in Surat to prepare for UPSC or GPSC. I went to Ahmedabad and prepared for the exam and gave attempts three times till the year 2017. After passing the LIC examination in the year 2006, I worked as a development officer for two months. I cleared the UPSC examination in the last attempt and became an IPS officer” said Dudhat.
Dinesh Nawadia, President of SGCCI said, “We are proud to have the first IPS officer from Surat. It is time for the youths to take inspiration from Dudhat and strive to achieve their goals on the higher posts in government offices”
Honorary secretary Nikhil Madrasi moderated the session. Ashish Gujarati, President-elect of the Chamber and Manish Kapadia, Honorary Treasurer officiated the occasion. Finally, Himanshu Bodawala, Elect Vice President of the Chamber, concluded the session by thanking the audience.
