Surat : Powerloom weavers in the country’s largest Man-Made Fabric (MMF) hub would weave the famous Surti cloth with technical know-how.
Reason : the Man-Made Textile Research Association (MANTRA) and the city-based leading design institute ‘Institute of Design and Technology (IDT) have join hands to impart technical training to the people associated with the workers associated with the textile sector in the city.
Both MANTRA and IDT have designed a specialised three-month weavers’ training programme. The main objective behind the collaboration is to upgrade the skills, transfer of better technologies to the weavers, motivating weavers to adopt the same and help them in providing better access to market their end products.
Rajnikant Bachkaniwala, President MANTRA told TBT, “Such associations will generate enormous employment through industrial training and we’re looking forward to bridge the gap between academics and textile industries.”
Further, Bachkaniwala called upon the textile entrepreneurs to train their next generation through upcoming technology in Textiles by broadening opportunities for new technically skilled people.
Ashok Goyal, Founder, IDT said, “These PPP models and associations work towards overall development and I am grateful to MANTRA for showing its belief in us.”
Dr. S.K. Basu, Director, MANTRA said,” MANTRA has been conducting such training programmes for the past 15 years and this association with IDT will help reach this course to masses across India.”
